Talk about "transforming." Michael Bay tested the patience of even the most devoted Transformers fan with the second installment of the franchise, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but the hyperactive director bounces back in energetic form with number three, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. From the long opening sequence (a zany alternate-history reading of the NASA moon program, complete with cameos by John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon) through the predictably extended action climax, Bay is actually on his best behavior. Sure, his taste is as vulgar as ever (is introducing your leading lady via a lingering butt shot part of the director's personal signature?), but the story line is streamlined and the action is coherent: the constant chop-chop of the fighting sequences in Revenge is gone, replaced by a long-take approach that actually shows us who's fighting who. Plus, it's hard to resist a tilting skyscraper that allows the protagonists to slide down its glassy exterior. I know, right?

Shia LaBeouf returns, armed with a new and improbably bodacious girlfriend (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley); although initially unemployed, he's drawn back into protecting the planet from giant outer-space robots, as the Decepticons menace the Earth once again. John Turturro and Josh Duhamel return to help, and Frances McDormand and John Malkovich join the club. Let's reduce critical expectations and say that if you're going to make a dumb movie about mass destruction, this is the way to do it (and if that sounds like faint praise, compare the movie to its abysmal predecessor). Throw in Hangover funnyman Ken Jeong, computer nerd Alan Tudyk doing a German accent, and the voice of Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel Prime, and you've got yourself a three-ring circus of extremely spirited nonsense. Just how Michael Bay wants it. --Robert Horton

5Excellent Conclusion to a Franchise that Embodies the Summer Blockbuster
By R. Glaze
I went into this movie with lofty expectations. I found the first Transformers film to be a fun-spirited and exciting trip down memory lane. The second movie--despite its obvious flaws--contained some truly awe-inspiring action scenes. Thankfully the third and supposedly final installment proves to be the best film in the franchise; capturing the positives from both its predecessors and then some.
Dark of the Moon has a more serious tone than the first two movies. Beginning with the space race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, the movie sets up an alternate history (akin to X-Men: First Class) that brings a sense of gravity and meaning to the film. As the movie moves from past to present, the audience is greeted by familiar characters--both human and mechanical. To avoid any spoilers I will just state that the story is much more comprehensible than the first sequel's and the plot holes (while there may be a few) are nowhere near as noticeable or aggravating. The stakes are higher this round with the final act playing like an alien invasion movie along the lines of Independence Day or the more recent Battle: L.A., except instead of a wise-cracking Will Smith or a melancholic Aaron Eckhart fighting off the invaders we get a bad-ass Optimus Prime. The Autobot leader's character development is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the franchise. The events of Dark of the Moon cause Optimus to move away from the Superman-esque leader of the original film and into the realm of a vengeful anti-hero. Think the Punisher in the form of a giant robot. The human cast is serviceable. Shia LeBeauf's comedic chops are still amusing, while John Malkovich and (especially) Alan Tudyk provide further comic relief. Megan Fox's much discussed replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is nowhere near as bad as everyone (myself included) expected her to be. Her true acting abilities are still somewhat a mystery since half the time she is talking the camera is still mysteriously focused on her rear.
As always, the biggest draw in this type of movie is the action. Dark of the Moon delivers in droves. Say what you will about director Michael Bay; the man is capable of crafting some of the most exciting and inventive action scenes in modern cinema. Thankfully, unlike some recent releases (I'm talking to you Green Lantern), this is one movie that leaves some of the best material out of its trailers and TV spots. A chase between Bumblebee and his cohorts and three very animalistic Decepticons on the interstate towards the end of the first act is a jaw-dropping spectacle.
If this movie is as critically derided as was Revenge of the Fallen, then I am truly convinced critics just love to hate on Michael Bay. Why they can suspend disbelief for similar fare such as Thor (which was good) or Iron Man 2 (which was a moderately enjoyable mess) while bludgeoning Transformers is lost on me. Dark of the Moon is an excellent summer blockbuster anchored on several truly exciting action scenes. Those looking for a sci-fi cinematic pallet cleanser to rid themselves of the disappointing and tepid taste of Green Lantern should check out Transformers: Dark of the Moon without hesitation.

1AVOID at all costs!!!
By Bill J. Thomann
If you like any special features at all do not buy this version. They are doing the same thing as Avatar. This release gets a full price but absolutely zero special features. Not so much as a trailer. They will be putting out deluxe versions toward the end of the year including a 3D combo pack, blu ray combo pack & dvd. ALL will be packed & you will kick yourself for having to buy this a second time. Many people don't care about features but if you do consider yourself forewarned. And it's not like they're giving you a cut on the price for a "movie only" release.

1DONT DOUBLE DIP!! WAIT FOR THE BETTER VERSION
By bradley rusk
This version is being rushed out at the end of this month. Michael Bay has stated that a Bigger and Better 3D bluray version will be released later, with ALOT more extras than this edition. That version will be release on standard Blu as well, Looks like before the end of this year, just in time for the holidays.

More is less is generally the case with blockbuster sequels these days, with budgetary bloat often overshadowing the qualities that made the original film click with audiences. The Fast and the Furious movies, however, somehow manage to spin doughnuts around this concept of diminishing returns, with each installment becoming more ridiculously entertaining. Fast Five may be the most overblown entry in the series to date (which is saying quite a bit), but there's a dunderheaded earnestness to it that's hard to resist. This time around, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker and Co. go for an Ocean's 11 vibe--swapping out the Armani and martinis for Ed Hardy and Muscle Milk--as the gang go on the lam in Rio following a botched train heist. On the lookout for one final big score, they set their sights on bankrupting the local kingpin (an admirably straight-faced Joaquim de Almeida), calling in seemingly every character in the mythos for help. Stuff goes vroom and boom in mass quantities. Perhaps realizing that the formula may be in danger of reaching its shelf date, returning director Justin Lin here livens things up by bringing in Dwayne Johnson as a federal agent with a fearsome grudge. When he and Diesel eventually throw down, the building-busting destruction recalls the immortal War of the Gargantuas. Viewers in the mood for a little logic with their explosions may initially scoff, but by the time the final chase scene rolls around (an outrageously sustained kinetic set piece that would make Wile E. Coyote proud) it's tough to keep back the grins. Heaven only knows what the next sequel will bring (Send them back to colonial times? A race against Cthulhu in outer space? Pit them against Dick Dastardly and Muttley?), but there's every confidence that these folks will somehow pull it off.

5Fast Five brings the family back for one final job and a action packed thrill ride!
By Porfie Medina
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster team up again one final time for some more heart pounding adrenaline action. This movie takes place after Fast and Furious. The film brings the crew back together in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for one last job to get their freedom before disappearing forever. Some of the previous stars through the past Fast and Furious films return, including Tyrese Gibson, (Roman Pearce - 2 Fast 2 Furious) Ludacris (Tej - 2 Fast 2 Furious), Gal Gadot, (Gisele - Fast and Furious) Matt Schulze (Vince -The Fast and Furious) and Sung Kang (Han - Tokyo Drift) all return for one of the most action packed Fast and Furious movies ever. They are faced with a tough federal agent Luke Hoobs (the Rock) who will stop at nothing to hunt them down. I will not give away any more but, I'm happy to say Fast Five does not disappoint. This Movie is action packed from start to finish, and even though it has many over the top moments it is still one heck of an enjoyable action ride. Just like the original film that started it all, this new and final installment will also have you on the edge of your seat. Don't listen to bitter critics, if you like a fun entertaining movie to take you away from your life for a few hours check this movie out! Im going to miss Paul and Vin and all the crew, but will be forever thankful for all the awesome Fast films they brought us and am happy to watch them again and again on DVD or blu-ray! Fast Five [Blu-ray]
Be sure and stay for the end credits for a unexpected twist.

5The Best of the Franchise
By TechGuy77
This is just a great film. It's fun, it's loud, it's got story, and it's got gorgeous girls and amazing cars. That's the recipe for an awesome blockbuster. I'd heard the hype, and had always planned to see it, but I didn't know it would be as good as it was. it was just bada**. I came to Amazon the minute it was over to try and pre-order the Blu-ray--it is that good. Sure, it's cliche a lot of the time, but cliche doesn't have to be a bad thing. If you liked the original film then this is right on par with that--I think it's even better.I can't wait for the 6th one to come out!

4Entertaining history of martial arts on film
By BD Ashley
Presented by Samuel L. Jackson, THE ART OF ACTION is an enjoyable and entertaining look at the history of matial arts films from its origins in Peking Opera in China, which was performed by men in women's clothing. Strangely, the first kung fu features were made with the WOMEN doing all the fighting as film was then considered a lower medium in China, and it was "dishonorable" for men to stoop to that level!
Of course, no film about martial arts could be made without Bruce Lee, "The James Bond Of Martial Arts". Here viewers are treated to footage from RETURN OF THE DRAGON where Lee beats the bejesus out of a young Chuck Norris, as well as hearing Lee's philosophies on kung fu, which remain intriguing and inspiring no matter how many times you hear them.
THE ART OF ACTION also features appearances from Jackie Chan, recounting his experiences as part of a Peking Opera troupe at age 7, as well as ruminations by John Woo, Ang Lee and Steven Seagal. There's plenty here to educate and entertain viewers, though stranglely Hammer's martial arts/ horror film LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES is overlooked here... but Cynthia Rothrock's cruddy movies get some attention! I just don't get it! That remains my only quibble. Also features clips from more recent films like RUSH HOUR 2 and CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON.
If you like this, you may want to check out the similar documentary CINEMA OF VENGEANCE which is about the history of martial arts and Hong Kong action films, though personally I found THE ART OF ACTION to be more entertaining. Both movies are highly recommended.

5Martial Arts Journey
By A Customer
This in-depth documentary gives a behind-the-scenes look at the history of the martial arts films. It shows what the early pioneers of martial arts had to do to pass on the skills when the then rulers wanted to forbid the practice. The journey is one of rebellious beginnings to high flying stunts in movies today. It also features the work of Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan,Sammo Hung and others. This is a great documentary to watch if you want to learn more about the world of martial arts in films.

4good documentary hosted by samuel l. jackson
By morgoth
This movie does not show like many great clips but is a pretty good documentary. It starts out talking about the the first shaw movies and lau kar-leung, and also the origins of kung fu(briefly), women in the 20's making these movies, and of course kwan tak-hing. The only thing that I really had a problem with is that they just passed over the jimmy wang yu, lo lieh, chen kwan tai, hwang jang lee, etc. I don;t think it even mentions the venoms!! They show some good clips from one armed swordsman, but even though they show their dramatic scene, they don't even mention jimmy or lie's name. So it goes way to quickly into the new school stuff like crouching tiger but does not capitilize on the golden age of kung fu.

Can anything keep Captain Jack Sparrow down? Well, as long as Johnny Depp plays the offbeat pirate of the high seas, as he does in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the answer is "Not bloody likely, mate!" This fourth installment of the Pirates franchise is jolly good fun--nearly as good as the first one, in fact. The writing is crisp, the action amazing--and there's the addition of a foe finally the match of Captain Jack: Ian McShane as the dreaded, and dreadful, Blackbeard. McShane seems to be having as much fun as Depp, and that's saying something--channeling his dastardly character on Deadwood but keeping his epithets rated PG-13. Adding to the festivities is the winsome Penélope Cruz, as Angelica, a woman with a past entwined with Jack Sparrow's. Angelica now might be a fearsome pirate herself--or maybe just a cunning con artist tugging at Sparrow's heartstrings.

The action in On Stranger Tides centers on the quest to find the legendary Fountain of Youth in the Americas. But the plot, of course, is incidental in the Pirates films. From the earliest scenes, it's clear the action, and Depp's winking at the camera, are the stars. Captain Jack stages a giant food fight in front of the King of England, culminating in a chandelier scene worthy of The Phantom of the Opera, and he's off at a gallop. Along for the ride are previous cast members Geoffrey Rush (who's sold out and is now an unctuous representative of His Majesty's Navy); loyal sidekick Kevin McNally, who narrowly escapes a death sentence, and then celebrates by leaping on board Captain Jack's fraught mission; and Keith Richards as Jacky's dad, who speaks few words, but wise ones. There are even zombie pirates, and a mysterious mermaid. Pirates of the Caribbean isn't suitable for viewers under 8 or so, because it's dark and intense in spots, but otherwise, it's a rollicking good popcorn film. --A.T. Hurley

4I enjoyed it...
By Brian Nallick
...and after the sound thrashing the critics gave it, I was not expecting to.
No spoilers, I promise.
Is it worth seeing in the theater?
Did you enjoy the first three?
Then the answer is a resounding yes.
I think the critics were expecting more of a rebirth for the franchise and that's not what this movie is.
It's called part 4 for a reason lol.
It's a definite continuation.
It was a little weird not having Orlando and Keira there but the new actors brought a wonderful new dimension to the film that after a few minutes I didn't miss Orlando or Kiera...not that I wouldn't mind seeing them in a future installment.
Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz were wonderful and perfect for this film.
So what was good?
Pretty much everything.
It's a Pirates of the Caribbean movie folks.
It's got action, action, and more action.
I've heard other complaints that it was paced too slowly.
???
Are you kidding, for a two hour plus movie this flew right by me.
The acting was excellent.
The score, pacing, cinematography was perfect.
A lot of people were turned off by the story line in part 3 and yes, it had it's moments of who's on first, who's on second, who is double crossing who in what scene from the next.
"Stranger Tides" does not suffer from this.
The story was interesting and enjoyable but not difficult to follow.
What didn't I like?
The first half of the movie is VERY heavy on action with little bits of dialog in between the chaos...not enough dialog actually.
The second half of the movie cuts back on the action and gives us way more character development and story.
The second half was actually much more enjoyable for me as the first half felt a tad unbalanced.
That minor gripe aside..if you loved 1,2 and 3 of the Pirates franchise, you'll enjoy this.
Not a rebirth but a darn good continuation of a series I love.
The magic has NOT been lost...
Funny.
A great story.
Incredible acting from everyone.
Entertaining.
Action...lots of it.
Can't wait for part 5.
Highly recommended.

3Loved the movie, but I have some complaints about the Blu Ray releases....
By Lisa Traverso
Let me start this review by saying the 3 Stars is not for the movie itself, or necessarily the package, because I am sure it will be great. I myself, maybe I might be overrating it, but I loved this movie. I thought it was much closer to the fun and surprise of the first movie, and not the bad dialogue and pacing issues of the second and third. Depp was great as usual, the new villain was awesome, and the movie was so much fun! It wasn't flawless, but it was really good.
Now as for this package, I would be more than happy to buy it. However, Disney really did a good job of ripping off the buyers who don't have a 3D TV.
This is not the only edition of the movie on Blu-Ray, but this is the best one to buy. The five disc set consists of The 3D Blu Ray disc of the movie, a standard Blu Ray edition, a special features disc on a REGULAR blu-ray, a DVD copy, and a Digital Copy of the film. So what's the problem? Well me myself, I do not own a 3D player, but I love special features on Blu-Ray discs and for DVD's, so I like to buy the edition where I can have all of my special features.
However, what Disney did with this release is they put the standard Blu-Ray disc with all of the special features ONLY IN THIS RELEASE! In the other Blu Ray release of this film, it only includes the movie on Blu-Ray and the Movie on DVD. No special Features Disc to be found, but it is in this version.
This is really scummy by Disney because not only do standard people who don't want a copy of it in 3D get ripped off of special features, but also us who like our features will have to dig out some more money to pay for it. This edition is about 5-10 dollars more expensive than the standard Blu Ray and not only because of the extra disc, but because of the 3D!
It really makes me annoyed because I love special features, and I thought this movie was really good! But I am going to have a tough decision to make whether to buy this edition or not. I don't know, what do you guys think? Me myself? I might not even end up buying the movie because of this. Darn shame, I was looking forward to getting it.

4A Sequel That's Worthy Of The Series
By Barry
In recent years, we've had franchises return for a fourth installment. Indiana Jones. Die Hard. Rambo. Scream. All of varying worth. Many critics say that these long running franchises returning for a 4th film never live up to the hype or to the series they are a part of. Well, 'Pirates 4' comes along to change all that. It is a sequel, coming 4 years after the last one(which is like 10 years in this generation where last week is old), it is a part 4, and it's wonderful. Critics say otherwise, but this is one movie where the audience has spoken, and they are loving it.
I could go into the story, but why bother? By now, everyone should know that Capt. Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp)is back, and he is journeying to the famed fountain of youth, along with old foe Barbarossa(the great Geoffrey Rush), evil Pirate Blackbeard(the even better Ian McShane), and old flame Angelica(Penelope Cruz) who may or may not be Blackbeard's daughter. Along the way, our characters run across exciting adventures and scary mermaids.
First of all, people and critics were quite vocal on how the two sequels were too complicated, over-stuffed, and confusing. Thankfully, this latest adventure simplifies the material in a way that harkens back to the wonderful, and now classic, original 2003 film. There is now B and C storylines to dampen down the festivities. Everything is pretty simple and crystal clear and easy to follow along. In fact, the whole movie has such a refreshing air to it, that it really does go back to the original. The immense charm of the original film with Depp's Sparrow and humor is here in full force. The magic is there. The fun time, popcorn blockbuster is there. Part 3 was disappointing and was missing most of this, but it's here in spades with part 4. Also in abundance is the action. Part 3 was so long that the action felt few and far between. Here, there is plenty of action. The movie never slows down and is never boring. Ever. New director Rob Marshall keeps things moving at a fun and brisk pace. It's continuously watchable and gorgeous, like all the others, to look at. It is, without a doubt, the most fun and entertaining movie in the franchise since the first one.
The cast is great. Johnny Depp is these movies. People come to see him in this role and he doesn't disappoint in this one. He seems more alive, lively, refrshed, and as amusing as ever. Elsewhere, you will be wondering "Orlando and Keira who?" You won't miss them. Penelope Cruz holds her own as Angelica. Rush is as great as he always is in the other films. And then there is Ian McShane. He is just cool. Blackbeard is a character to be reckoned with, and McShane is so evil and icy cool, that he owns every scene he is in. There are new characters littered throughout the film, but none of them really bring much. I will say though, that the actrss who plays Serena the mermaid, and I don't remember her name, may be one of the loveliest beauties I have seen on the silver screen in some time.
The critics have not been kind. Some have been downright savage, and I cannot understand why. The audienc I saw it with clapped at the end. "On Stranger Tides" may not be so strange, but it delivers what everyone wants and hopes for in a Pirate's movie. Easily the best of the sequels, the movie is great fun. It has a new zest of life and has a sharp script filled with rousing action, some great dialogue, and some great humor. What more can you ask for? I am a huge fan of the franchise. Part 3 was not what everyone wanted, but "On Stranger Tides" does a great job of steering this mighty franchise back on course. Part 5 cannot come fast enough

Humphrey Bogart and Raymond Massey star in a unique film that shows what convoy duty was like for the Merchant Marine in World War II. When their tanker is torpedoed by a German U-boat, Bogart and Massey take command of a Liberty Ship, and their convoy must play cat and mouse with a German wolf pack. While clearly shown in a bad light, the Germans are not heavily demonized, which was unusual for a patriotic war film of the time (1943). Another unusual choice was having the Germans speaking only in their native language, with no subtitles. This realism helps carry any dated elements, especially when combined with the accurate depiction of convoy techniques and battle tactics (the footage was later used for actual training purposes). Even jaded viewers will be on pins and needles when the convoy is attacked, and they hear the repeated German command of "Torpedo... LOS!" --Mark Savary

4Great film about underappreciated heroes of WWII
By Rottenberg's rotten book review
They didn't sail powerful destroyers or fill the skies with waves of carrier-borne fighters, but the men of the US Merchant Marine nevertheless fought and won the second world war's most crucial and consistently bloody battles - the Battle of the Atlantic. This excellent film follows the travails of a merchantman bound for Russia's arctic port of Murmansk with a cargo of materials the Russians need to keep the Germans pegged on the eastern front. Through the war, American convoys sailed mass-built "Liberty Ships" through waters teeming with German planes, cruisers and U-Boats to keep both England and Russia properly equipped. While tides of war may have shifted thruought the war, allied convoys faced constant attacks by axis units until the end, relying mainly on their ability to absorb severe casualties.

This film is fiction and, produced during the war (1943) has the hallmarks of a propaganda film. But "Action" is so much more - with winning performances by Humphrey Bogart and Ray Massey, and a fine supporting crew that sounds like they may have actually sailed the dreaded "Murmansk Run". The special effects are astoundingly good for 1943 and hold up pretty well today. The Germans are perfect as skilled hunters - I still get a chill during the battle scenes when whole crews utter "torpedo - los!" - not quite dehumanized, but still fearsome. Crisp direction makes their untranslated lines the best case against sub-titles. In short, a great film.

4Recognition to the Men of the Maritime Service
By gobirds2
This great sea tale staring Humphrey Bogart and Raymond Massey is a good patriotic homage to the World War II sailors of the maritime service. Dane Clark as seamen Johnny Pulaski is a standout. Clark's acting deserved more recognition than he ever got. Alan Hale is also on board. Lloyd Bacon's direction is somewhat pedestrian but Producer Jerry Wald's fine production values, good action sequences and Adolph Deutsch's score compensate a lot.

5Tells a GREAT story!!!!
By A Customer
Humphrey Bogart was excellent as the executive officer aboard a "Liberty Ship". This tells the story of a much forgotten service: the Merchant Marine. It shows the courage and commitment these professional sailors had to face down German U-boats and Raiders. These were the men that made sure that the needed war supplies got there intact. If you enjoy movies about WWII especially ones that were made during the war itself (like this one) then this is a MUST SEE.

4Arnold, Bruce, Wesley and.... Bridget?
By Annie Van Auken
WARNER's EXTREME ACTION offers four examples of early to mid 1990s action films, including two by a couple of the genre's biggest stars: Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
SYNOPSES--
ERASER-- Witness Protection specialist with unorthodox ways is set up as the "bad guy" by corrupt co-workers. Arnold benefits from an excellent supporting cast.
THE LAST BOY SCOUT-- Ex-Secret Servicman turned detective buddies up with a former football QB whose girlfriend is murdered; a woman the private eye was hired to protect. Authored by "Lethal Weapon" scripter Shane Black, the film's last scene suggests a sequel-- perhaps the lack of on-screen chemistry between Willis and Wayans precluded that from happening.
PASSENGER 57-- Terrorist and his cohorts hijack a plane carrying an undercover security expert. (Originally intended as a Stallone vehicle.)
POINT OF NO RETURN-- A female drug addict condemed to die for a violent crime is recruited as a government assassin.
SYLVESTER STALLONE: 4 FILM FAVORITES is the ideal companion to this action movie 4-fer.

4Guns, Fighting, Explosions & Chuck in a Box
By The Straw Man
This is a great set for the classic Chuck Norris fan or someone who would like to become familiar with Mr. Norris' work. There are five movies in this set, so it gives you a nice taste of what Chuck has to offer.
The Delta Force: This movie follows two Middle Eastern terrorist on a public airplane. These two terrorist intimidate the passengers, with threats and their guns. I would have to say that some of the scenes with the terrorists on the plane were a bit unsettling considering the whole 9/11 attacks would come less than 20 year later from the release of this movie; this gives an entire new meaning to art imitating life and/or foreshadowing. The first half of the movie is the terrorism on the plane, until The Delta Force is called in. The Delta Force is a special government unit to fight terrorism and for the brave. Sadly, The Delta Force is only in this movie, perhaps if there was a real Delta Force there wouldn't be some of the turmoil that goes on in the world. I digress; the second half of the movie is where Chuck Norris and Delta Force go to rescue the hijacked airplane passengers and to fight militant fundamentalist terrorists. This equals a great deal of violence, guns, explosions and fighting. Overall a movie that is a bit on the long side yet provides some great entertainment.
Delta Force 2: The only relationship between this movie and part one is Chuck Norris' character. I found this movie to be overall more enjoyable than part one. It isn't quite as long as the first film, so it jumps right into the meat and potatoes. In this movie Chuck is fighting a Columbian Drug Lord (Billy Drago). However things get personal as CDL/Billy Drago hits Chuck where it hurts, in a manner of speaking. There is plenty of over the top violence in this movie, as well as hand to hand combat. This movie doesn't seem to take itself as serious as its predecessor. Overall a great action film that can be enjoyed without seeing its precursor.
Missing in Action: The first of the P.O.W trilogy featuring Chuck Norris as Braddock begins right here. Braddock served in the Vietnam Conflict (since it was never declared a war) and still is haunted by the incidents that happened to his fellow U.S. soldiers and himself. Braddock knows that many of his friends are still M.I.A (Missing in Action, get it). So after Braddock travels back over to the realm of Vietnam for some sort of publicity stunt for the Vietcong Government to prove to the U.S. Government that there are no American soldiers who are M.I.A; Braddock then breaks away for his true agenda. He then teams up with an old war buddy (M. Emmet Walsh) and they go back into their former combat zone to save their friends. Overall, a movie that is straight to the point. There is plenty of action, bombs and minimal dialogue from Chuck.
Missing in Action 2: The Beginning: This movie is actually a prequel to Missing in Action. It explains how Braddock and his company were captured by a group of Vietnamese soldiers. Braddock and company are neglected, tortured (mentally and physically) and just plain out vexed. This builds a great deal of tension between characters, so when the zenith comes and Braddock begins to fight back, it is pretty astonishing. Soon-Tek Oh plays the lead villain as Colonel Yin and does a great job playing a bad person. Overall, a great movie with plenty of character development for a somewhat campy B action movie, don't worry the character development doesn't take anything away from all the violence. As for the entire Missing in Action Saga, I feel this is the best movie in the series.
Braddock: Missing in Action 3: So with respect of keeping a strong flow, M.I.A 3 would really take place after M.I.A. and Braddock is now back in American uh....being Braddock. He is approached by someone who tells him that his wife and son are still alive over in Vietnam. Braddock says that isn't true because he saw his wife's dead body. Just to recap, this film starts with a flashback and shows Braddock married to a Vietnamese woman and then she appears to be killed to Braddock, but she wasn't. Braddock also didn't know that Mrs. Braddock was pregnant. This sort of creates a bit of a conflict with M.I.A. 2, because it was stated that Braddock's wife was back in the United States. How many ways can we spell loop holes? Anyway, Braddock again goes back to Vietnam to find his "undead" (not a zombie though) wife and his son. I have to say that the first forty-five minutes of this movie is almost exactly the same as the first forty-five minutes of M.I.A. I really felt this déjà vu thing going on when I watched this movie. When Braddock does find his son, the movie sort of turns into a mixture of Rambo and Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom, has to be seen to be believed. Overall, a pretty solid movie if one omits some of the Swiss cheese holes in story continuity. The action was still pretty good and Chuck didn't disappoint. Yet I did feel that the Missing in Action franchise was a bit out steam after this movie, so it is a good thing that this was the last film.
All the movies in this box set are full screen, except Missing in Action, it is offered in full and widescreen. The full screen versions didn't bother me too much since they weren't pan and scan. The picture is pretty clear and the audio is pretty crisp. The movie preview/trailer for each film is included on this set but that is it as far as bonus features go.
This collection of movies has one thing going against it and that is the lack of location diversity. All of these movies pretty much take place in a jungle or desert, which isn't a bad thing. However, it doesn't give a new viewer of Chuck Norris' work much deviation in plot or surroundings. I DEFINITELY suggest buying this collection of movies, but I would also watch "Code of Silence" and some selected episodes of "Walker, Texas Ranger" to see Chuck Norris in non-jungle/desert environments.

4You can't beat Chuck
By In the dark of the night ...
This is a good set of Chuck's best asskicking ways. Flying feet, broken jaws, machine guns and zero acting ability, but who cares? It's Chuck and Chuck rocks. Did you know he pushes planet Earth down when he does press ups?
